Richard R. Clark
Mr. Clark has a Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He launched his career at Shell Offshore in 1979. More than 20 of his 36 years in the energy business have been focused in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. In 1996, he was one of the founders of Mariner Energy, Inc., serving as Executive Vice President and a board member. In 2004, he was a founder of Deep Gulf Energy and has served as President of the company since inception.
Jere C. Overdyke
Sr. VP – Finance
Mr. Overdyke’s experience in energy industry finance and operations dates back to 1977. His experience in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico arena is approaching 20 years. Prior to joining Deep Gulf Energy in 2005, Mr. Overdyke worked with Plains Resources serving as Executive Vice President and CFO from 2001 to 2002 and Enron Corp from 1991 to 2001. Mr. Overdyke served on the Board of Directors of Mariner Energy from 1996 to 2001.
Mr. Young has more than 30 years of experience in the energy industry – more than half of which has been focused in the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico. Prior to joining Deep Gulf in 2005, Mr. Young worked with Mariner Energy, Inc. and its predecessor companies from 1985 to 2002 ultimately serving as Mariner’s Vice President – Business Development and Land
Mr. Strickler began his career in 1978 as a geologist with Keplinger and Associates and served as an exploration geologist with several independent producers. For nearly two decades his focus has been in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. In 1996, he was a co-founder of Mariner Energy, Inc. serving as Mariner’s Senior Vice President of Exploration and Land. But he has served in a variety of exploration and management positions with Mariner and its predecessor companies from 1984 to 2001.
Vice President – Reservoir Engineering
Mr. Campbell has 29 years of experience in the energy industry – 17 years focused in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. Prior to joining Deep Gulf Energy in 2006, he was a founding shareholder at Mariner Energy, Inc., and its predecessor Hardy Oil and Gas USA in various Reservoir Engineering roles. Mr. Campbell was with Prairie Producing Company from 1983-1990.
Vice President – Exploration
Mr. Nelson is in his fourth decade in the energy industry. Since 1998 he’s directed his expertise in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. He retired in 2007 from Anadarko Petroleum after serving 27 years as Deepwater Exploration Manager. But Deep Gulf Energy lured him back out of retirement in 2007 to join the team. Mr. Nelson began his career with Sun Oil Company in 1980 after graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology. He served various geological and management positions both domestically and internationally with Anadarko and its predecessors KerrMcGee, Oryx Energy, and Sun Oil Company.
Mr. Clement began his career with Burmah Oil in 1974. He has focused on the deepwater Gulf of Mexico since 1994, when he was one of the founders of Mariner Energy Inc. serving as Exploration Manager from 1998 – 2002. Prior to Mariner, he held various exploration and development positions with its successor, Hardy Oil.
Mr. Fisher has 37 years of oil field experience – 16 years focused in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. Prior to joining Deep Gulf in 2005, Mr. Fisher worked with Mariner Energy, Inc and its predecessor companies from 1996 to 2005, ultimately serving as Mariner’s Deepwater Operations Manager. Mr. Fisher began his career at Amoco.
R. Paul Buie, Jr
Deepwater Subsea Completion Engineer
All of Mr. Buie’s engineering experience, since his career began in 1990 has been directed in the Gulf of Mexico. Mr. Buie has held numerous completion engineering positions with various oil and gas corporations, including Kerr McGee, Arco/Vastar, Mariner Energy, Inc., ExxonMobil Corporation, and BP. Since (1999 to present), Mr Buie has focused on subsea completion operations in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico.
Vice President of Development
Mr. Hough began his career with Diamond Shamrock in 1975. The last 15 years has been offshore construction and operations primarily deepwater GOM. He served as Vice President Deepwater Production Operations for Remington Oil and Gas and Energy Resources Technology from 2002 to 2011. Prior to that he worked for Maxus Energy USA, Repsol YPF Ecuador, Maxus Southeast Sumatra, Devon Indonesia and Mubadala Petroleum Thailand in various operation positions domestic and international .
David M. Jones
Vice President and General Counsel
Mr. Jones has been practicing law for almost 40 years with the vast majority of his practice being focused on oil and gas. Mr. Jones joined the Deep Gulf Energy Companies in 2014, but, prior to that, had served as their primary counsel for a number of years. Although the bulk of Mr. Jones’ practice has been with law firms, he previously served as Vice President and General Counsel to Bannon Energy Incorporated from 1994 to 1997 and Vice President and General Counsel to Altura Energy, Ltd. from March, 1997 through June, 2000.
